Immaculate food. We had the Wagyu tartare, spanner crab pasta, bay bug pasta, beef ribs and tiramisu. Each dish was perfection. Shout out to Theo for the 10/10 service - he explained the menu and was really friendly and helpful!
Great experience dining here. Our lovely host, Sophie explained the menu in great depth and suggested some great dishes. The wagyu tartare snack was a highlight, as well as the ragu pasta. The malfadine was great but a little on the saltier side. The oysters with granita were super refreshing! Pastas a bit pricy but overall a lovely meal.
Spending Christmas Eve at ALT Pasta Bar for dinner was an amazing experience. The overall atmosphere, food, beverage and service were all outstanding. The beef tartare and the squid ink spaghetti were truly impressive โ definitely a place worth returning to.
Tried the lunch set at Alt Pasta and it really stood out from other Italian spots in Melbourne. The stracciatella with fruit and elderflower was light and refreshing to start. The grilled king prawn with mango salsa was fresh and different in a good way. Both pastas were the highlight โ the crab squid ink spaghetti was rich and full of flavor, and the thicker pasta with nduja had a chewy texture with a bold, slightly spicy sauce that paired perfectly with the basil pesto. Definitely worth a lunch visit.
This place is a cosy yet vibrant nook in the CBD, serving up some decent entrees and fantastic pastas, of course. The service and ambience are second to none - this place and the team running it are, in three words, warm, attentive, and suave. Our starting snacks were a bit of a let down - the oysters were not the freshest to taste, and buried in toppings that did not hero the oyster. They were tasty enough, though you wouldnโt necessarily know what you had just eaten was seafood. The steak tartare was well presented but unfortunately sat very greasy in the mouth - the extremely small portion made this a short-lived disappointment. But that was where the disappointment ended. Next up were the scallops which were among the best being served in the CBD - not only value for money but served with a sauce that might have had us licking the bowl if Shy, our waitress, hadnโt swooped in with some extra focaccia for us to mop up the sauce with. The mains, squid ink spaghetti with spanner crab, and mafaldine with Moreton Bay bug, were fantastic - I canโt recommend them highly enough. We were also treated to a complimentary affogato which was the perfect couple of bites to end the meal with. Overall, the food was a bit of a journey, but a gratifying one all in all. Our waitress, Shy was a star - she was attentive without being overbearing, a total delight to see in action, and a fountain of laughs and warmth. Thank you to her and the team for a lovely evening, weโll see you again soon!
