I recently dined at Como Italian restaurant in Sydney and wanted to share an experience that serves more as a cautionary note for other visitors. The food was fairly standard nothing terrible, but nothing memorable either, which seems typical for a restaurant in a high-traffic tourist area. We ordered a couple of starters, a child’s meal, and a few drinks, all of which arrived promptly with polite service. The surprise came at the end. When the bill arrived, it totaled $629, which was significantly more than I had anticipated for such a simple order. I’ve come to expect occasional billing surprises in busy tourist spots, so I always make a point of checking the final amount carefully. In this case, after reviewing the bill with the staff, the total was adjusted. While everything was resolved calmly, the experience was a reminder to stay vigilant, especially in places where turnover is high and attention to detail might vary. If you plan to visit, I’d recommend keeping a mental note of what you order and double checking your receipt before paying.
Cold, windy and rainy night so we opted for indoor seating. It was a relief we were protected from the elements but the interior was quite uninspiring. Great furniture but not much else. Sparse and no warmth in the room. But that’s just personal preference. Entrees came out relatively quick but the mains came out an hour after the entrees. We were starving and very annoyed. Unfortunately, our server made a mistake and was the reason why our meal came out so much later than it should have but in all fairness, the staff were very nice and friendly but just that hiccup did not make the night as enjoyable as it could’ve been. Truthfully, it was a Thursday night and it wasn’t busy at all. They had half the tables in the outdoor area occupied but the indoor seating was vacant other than us and another couple. Burrata was served with canned peaches not the figs like we came here for. Disappointed but it was probably out of season. Bruschetta was served on cold stale bread. The flavour of the toppings were nice but the bread base was a let down. The focaccia was great! Hot and toasty and so good with the olive oil and balsamic reduction. Shame that everything else was not up to the same standards. Pasta was average or above average at best bar the gnocchi which was disappointing. Steak was just steak that wasn’t the best but wasn’t the worst. The sides were also not the best. I mean the roast potatoes could’ve been better. Overall, I would not come back. The servers were really nice and the view outside is great but the food…could improve before I would come back.
I had a wonderful dining experience at COMO Italian. The atmosphere is elegant and relaxing, made even better by the beautiful waterfront view overlooking the Opera House, which is definitely one of the best spots for a special meal with friends. The cocktails were delicious and beautifully presented, perfect for starting the evening. Every dish we ordered was well-executed and full of flavour. The scallops were tender, the crispy potato bites with beef were outstanding, and the seafood pasta was rich and comforting. Even the baked eggplant dish was perfectly seasoned and felt very elevated. The service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. With great food, great drinks, and an unbeatable view, this restaurant is truly worth the visit. I would definitely come back again!
Sunday lunch at COMO 💫 Honestly the most innovative Italian dishes I’ve ever had — every plate looked like art but tasted even better. The kids are usually super fussy — they don’t touch raw oysters, medium-rare steak, or anything that looks suspiciously fancy 😂 But today, they cleaned every plate. 🦪 Oysters — so fresh, silky and ocean-sweet. 🥩 Wagyu beef — melt-in-your-mouth tender, the sauce was chef’s kiss. 🐙 Octopus — their absolute favourite! Perfectly grilled, smoky with a hint of citrus. We ended up spending 2.5 hours there — that’s how much we enjoyed it. Prime location, elegant setting, and the service was genuinely 10/10. We felt so welcomed and well looked after from start to finish. Definitely my new go-to spot for special family meals in Sydney. 🍷✨
Had lunch at Como Restaurant today with my girlfriends and we absolutely loved it! The vibe was perfect, relaxed yet classy, and the view overlooking the Opera House and Harbour Bridge made it such a stunning spot for photos. The food was incredible. The burrata had amazing flavour, the pasta was cooked perfectly, and the dessert was divine, not too sweet which I personally love. The spicyyy margaritas were honestly the best I’ve had in a while. The service was amazing too, everyone was super friendly and attentive which made the whole experience even better. Such a beautiful spot for a catch up, good food, great drinks, and an even better view. Definitely a must try in Sydney
