The risotto is my new favourite meal in Newcastle. Service was phenomenal and every dish was 10/10.

From the moment I walked into Locks Paddock, I was struck by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The design of the space is both stylish and comfortable, creating the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable dining experience. Sitting front row by the open kitchen was a highlight of the evening. Watching the chefs prepare each dish with precision and creativity added a whole new dimension to the meal—it felt like dinner and a show rolled into one. The energy, skill, and passion they brought to their craft were inspiring. The wait staff were attentive without being intrusive, striking that perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness. Every interaction felt genuine, and they made sure the evening flowed seamlessly. A special mention must go to Nick, who was an exceptional host. His warmth, attentiveness, and ability to make guests feel welcome truly elevated the experience. It’s rare to find someone who can combine professionalism with such a personal touch, and Nick did exactly that. Overall, Locks Paddock isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a place to enjoy, connect, and be part of something special. I’ll definitely be returning and recommending it to friends.

My partner, friends and I have had the privilege of dining here many times, as it's a gem just a few blocks from home. The menu is fantastic, with offerings changing slowly over time, and sometimes seasonally. Service is stellar - even, well coached service for the sake of great service delivered with pride, with low staff turnover to the point that a few of the staff remember my name. This team is at their best when there's a line out the door, super busy...they thrive and deliver under pressure. Atmosphere is energetic during mid-rush, quieter on the shoulders or if seated outside. You can feel the excitement at Lock's, as folks tuck into their meals... just amazing. The list of recommended dishes for this google review did not include the gnocchi w truffle... good lord is that mouth watering. We have never had a dish that was less than stellar from this kitchen staff; they rock and roll, and they know it, and the service staff knows it, and after you eat here you'll know it too. They are bullet proof. Absolute fire. Njoi!

Amazing food and able to cater for coeliac. The waitstaff told me that the sous chef was coeliac so I felt so comfortable eating there. Most of their menu can be gluten free which is also amazing. Super friendly waitstaff who were very patient with our indecisive table! Highlights for me were the pork belly (pictured), prawn and beef cheek dishes! The menu is seasonal so those dishes won’t necessarily be there but all of the food is so yummy.

Everything was great! Wished the skin of the pork belly was crispy, but still tasted great! Beef cheeks and calamari was definitely the highlight!
