Weโve been going to Lumi consistently for over five or six years and have always been blown away by their dishes and service. The highlights for me would be their snack game - each one looking pretty as a picture and even better to eat. We love it so much that we have spent our 20th to 23rd wedding anniversary each year there. Lumi is where you go if you want to celebrate a special occasion but even if you donโt have one - Iโd suggest you make one up to enjoy the experience. Definitely my top two in Australia.
LuMi Dining โ One of Sydneyโs Quiet Masterpieces LuMi is not flashy. It doesnโt chase trends or shock value. Instead, it delivers one of the most refined, balanced and confident tasting menus Iโve had in Sydney. We had the full 18-course tasting, and every course felt intentional and thoughtfully paced. Highlights were exceptional โ the abalone toast was deeply savoury and buttery with incredible umami depth; the beetroot and ocean trout with roe was beautifully balanced and precise; and the rosette dish showcased incredible knife work and restraint. The lobster pasta and the mains were outstanding, rich, perfectly cooked and deeply satisfying โ everything worked, except the quail, which was technically good but less memorable than the rest. The seafood and fruit courses were bright and refreshing, and the desserts finished the meal with warmth and nostalgia rather than unnecessary theatrics. Service was calm, professional and well-paced, and the dining room felt serene and quietly luxurious. LuMi is a restaurant for people who appreciate precision, balance and confidence in cooking rather than hype. A destination restaurant, and easily one of Sydneyโs most memorable fine-dining experiences. Highly recommended.
Our dinner at Lumi was disappointing. This is our 4th coming here over 10 years and I don't plan to come back. We had the tasting menu for $265. There are other restaurants in Sydney who can provide better food and service for this price point. Service was slow and they were just doing their job. When they seated us, they left us for almost 10 mins with no service. The snacks use to be the highlight but it was pretty ordinary. The best dish was the special (Tagliolini Seafood, Zucchini flower) which was an extra $25 per serve.
Now weโre cookinโ! Weโve dined here a couple of times and even though weโve only gone with the tasting menu and not the full omakase, each visit has been great. Chef Federico has found the perfect fusion of Japanese and Italian cuisine and turned it into one of Sydneyโs best dining experiences.
The food at Lumi Dining was creative, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. eEach dish felt perfectly balanced and thoughtfully crafted. The service matched the quality of the cuisine: attentive, professional, and genuinely warm without being overbearing. From the ambiance to the pacing of the meal, everything was seamless. Special thanks to Chef Federico for looking after us and making the experience even more memorable. A true highlight of Sydneyโs fine dining scene, highly recommended.
