We enjoyed our visit to Matteos. But without Matteo working the floor, the quality and vibe felt less. Still excellent food. Service lacking its old polish. On the pricey side, so our expectations are of course high!

The food was well presented but unfortunately did not meet the expectations I had after reading the glowing reviews. Tempura zucchini flowers were too hard and barramundi was undercooked. The panna cotta dessert was nice but nothing out of the ordinary.

A standout dining experience across the board. Stellar service, delicious food and wine, beautiful venue. No wonder it’s been an institution for decades. All the snacks are super delicious - try them all if you can. The seafood ravioli is also a beautiful dish that tastes just as good. And save room for the tiramisu, which is a unique twist on the classic presentation layered with filo and served with marsala ice cream.

Pretty good over all. The menu did some really lovely modern takes on Italian food. The entrees especially stood out. Best quail and zucchini flowers I have had for a long time. Service was good, really happy and friendly staff trying to keep it professional but up for a laugh. Also nice and calm ambience, It would be a really romantic date night.

Had the 5 course tasting menu for $160 and enjoyed a good range of foods. I usually have to eat more after having a tasting menu because the meals aren't overly large but this was a good amount of very nice food. Everyone in Melbourne seems to know Matteo's as its been around for a long time and it's for good reason because we had a fantastic night. The service was fantastic, wait staff that had a chat and were just friendly and welcoming. I do recommend
