Lunch @SUDRistoranteItaliano Entree - Special: Kingfish Crudo Love the freshness of the raw kingfish cured in a very light acidic mix, delicious herb oil, burst of salmon roe, just let's the kingfish shine through. Entree - Special: Zucchini Flower I love zucchini flowers and the lightly battered and deep fried variety is an excellent way to showcase this delicate ingredient. Cooked well with the stem having a slight firmness, the flower is stuffed with a delicious creamy ricotta cheese mixture and paired with an earthy pea puree. Entree - Special: Stuffed Calamari Tube Calamari but not as you know it. Carefully prepared and very tender, stuffed with a light tomato sugo and cheese mixture, with a touch of capers for a salty fresh burst, excellent creation. Main - Special: Goat Wow wow wow! Cooked on the bone for maximum flavour, the gelatine oozes into the juices which are used to prepare the sauce. Super tender flavoursome goat, not at all gamey, falling off the bone and that unctuous sauce is absolutely amazing! The soft potato rounds are a lovely compliment but really it's all about the goat and this is superb. We also had some sides of broccolini and caulilini as a contrast to the meatiness which were lovely. Lastly, we shared a tiramisu which is a favourite and this was top shelf. Light, spongey, slightly creamy, hit of coffee flavour coming through, the generous cocoa sprinkling providing that dark chocolate flavour, it goes down so easily and you just keep coming back for more. Our night at SUD was an amazing experience! The food was incredible, best Italian Iโve had. The service was unbelievable, homey and the owner was an absolute delight to deal with. Him alongside all of the other staff made sure we were comfortable, well fed and looked after. After an issue with the booking system that was no the fault of the restaurant, they went above and beyond, to a degree Iโve never experienced before, to ensure we were catered for. I cannot thank the staff enough! A truely incredible first stop in Melbourne that I cannot recommend enough to anyone else. If youโre thinking about visiting, do yourself a favour and book it in! We will be talking about this place for years to come.
Itโs hard to even know where to start describing my experience at SUD. The food was, without a doubt, some of the best Italian Iโve ever had. My friend and I started with the carpaccio, absolutely perfect, seasoned just right. For the main course, we had the linguine, which was amazing: full of flavor, juicy, and perfectly cooked. For dessert, we had the tiramisu. I have to admit Iโve never been a big fan, but for the first time, I genuinely enjoyed it, especially paired with a dessert wine that made it even more special. As for the service, it was impeccable. Vincenzo is incredible, he treated us like queens, carefully selected the wines to pair with each dish, explained everything, and was full of charm and courtesy. Our waiter, Ricardo, was also outstanding. We let him choose our dishes, and he nailed it, though honestly, with food this good, it would have been hard to go wrong. Everyone was extremely friendly and attentive, making it clear that theyโre not just delivering good service, but a full experience. The space itself is cozy, welcoming, clean, and very well organized. I canโt wait to come back to Melbourne just to eat here again. Highly recommended!
Hidden gem. Could not fault the food or service at SUD. Our waitress was so knowledgeable and made sure we were well looked after, always on top of clearing plates and topping up drinks. The food was brilliant. Oysters were large and fresh, the pearl vinegarette they served with them was such a fun element too. As recommended by many other reviewers the zucchini flowers were amazing and fish of the day was dorry served in the best sauce I've ever had. Ended the night with delicious italian donuts in caramel sauce which was a highlight of the night. Would absolutely come back.
We dined at SUD last night, and the experience was so great, we were still reminiscing about it the next morning. Every aspect of SUD exceeded our expectations. The ambiance was cozy yet vibrant, making it the perfect setting for a date night. The owner and staff were exceptionally warm, attentive, and knowledgeable, offering expert guidance to help us choose dishes weโd absolutely adore, perfectly paired with the ideal wine selection. Each dish was a delicious and included fresh, high quality ingredients and beautiful presentation. It's clear that a lot of love and care go into everything at SUD. We canโt wait to return and experience it all over again!
